Kenya Smallholder dairy project - Nutrient Balance survey

The longitudinal study was carried as a sequel to the characterisation survey that was conducted in 15 districts within the central highlands and parts of Western Kenya. Based upon the results of the survey, 21 representative crop dairy farms were selected for a longitudinal study to characterise the seasonal crop and livestock activities, to capture the major inputs and outputs and to estimate nutrient flows and balances. Over the 12 month study period, the farms were visited twice weekly to collect farmer recall data.
